East Coast vs. West Coast or Somewhere in the Middle

July 16, 2010

Because the business my husband is in can be done pretty much anywhere, we find ourselves drifting into conversation (often) about where we would go if we decided to take the big leap. I truly love Texas. We have lived here thirteen years. My daughter was born here and I have family here which is so important to me. I visited Texas almost every summer growing up and have many fond memories. The people are incredibly friendly and there is a Texas pride that you can’t explain. You just have to be here and feel its power. Anyway, my husband is from the Northeast and misses green rolling hills, mountains, and four distinct seasons. We talk about moving to North Carolina where a lot of his family lives and we talk about Tennessee and Virginia. We also talk about Santa Fe and Colorado and sometimes even Northern California or Idaho. We often look at real estate in these locations and are torn. East versus West or somewhere in the middle is an ongoing question in our minds.

Here are a few homes that caught my eye, if money were no object of course…

Montecito, CA offered at $29,000,000

Telluride, CO offered at $21,000,000

Lake Norman, NC offered at $15,000,000

Santa Fe, NM offered at $13,500,000

There are some amazing properties out there for someone to buy but, I have to say I do love living here in the great state of Texas.

Lake Austin, TX offered at $12,900,000

Do you love where you live or is there somewhere else you dream of putting down roots?

Wow. Those are beautiful homes! We just returned from vacationing in the mountains of Montana, Wyoming and Utah. We saw fantastic homes of every shape and size. But the homes weren’t nearly as important as the views of the Rocky Mountains and the Grand Tetons. Being there does make one wish for that laid back lifestyle with less traffic, fewer people per square foot and incredible mountain air! Thanks for the awesome photos and here’s hoping that the wanderlust doesn’t grab hold of you in earnest. Texas would miss your wonderful family.

With a selection like this who could decide? You know when you love home – it’s hard to leave. That last home in Texas is fabulous!

. Maybe I’ll go somewhere. Somewhere, way up-north. Up where the trees are intertwined and majestic. Beautiful burgundy, and yellow-orange. Sometimes – Summer-time is just too hectic too hot; too hard to recover from. August…
