Laundry Room

April 21, 2011

Disregard the previous powder bath inspiration post. We have decided to get rid of the bathroom and make the kitchen larger. The house will still have the master bathroom and a guest bathroom on the other side of the house that visitors can use. The middle bathroom’s location was right off of the kitchen eating area and that really bugged me. There is something about people using a bathroom five feet from where you are eating. So, we will sacrifice the third bathroom for a few extra feet of kitchen space.

Anyhoo, a couple of years ago I toured the Southern Accents Riverhills Showhouse here in Fort Worth and really loved the colorful Ann Sacks tile in the laundry room. In the past I would never pick yellow tile for any projects since I am such a lover of neutrals but, I am thinking it would be fun to inject some color into an otherwise boring room like Melissa over at Veranda Interiors is planning for her new laundry room.

P.S. We visited the idea of getting rid of the bathroom in the beginning of this process but, we were afraid to lose a bathroom. My mom called yesterday and mentioned it again and it was like a light went off in our brains and we decided we had to make the change. So, thanks mom for your great timing and creative thinking!

    Heather,
I really want to “do up” my laundry room. I just copied this photo to my inspiration file.
When will you begin yours? Maybe I can live through you for a bit!

I love the idea of a fun tile in the laundry room and am actually starting to rethink my own choices….am thinking “outside the box”..might be going with gray cabinets and a gray and yellow wallpaper, so not sure about the floors but do love the floor you showed above..you get my vote!!
