Beadboard or Paneled Ceilings
May 23, 2011
I am a huge fan of wood beams, paneling and beadboard on ceilings. You can see a post I did about wood beams and wood ceilings here. Because the lake house has eight foot ceilings wood beams are not the best choice but, beadboard could work. Here are some inspirational images that show what a beadboard or paneled ceiling can do for a room…
Do you like this look?
Have a great week!

I am in love with all your wonderful examples, especially love that first kitchen, that is quite spectacular! I think bead borad can add a great and interesting element to a room but it does make it feel more casual so it doesn’t work for all spaces. This post does beadboard great justice!! Well done….
My favorite is the second picture Heather! As Tina said beadboard does not work for every room but where it suits, it can be so beautiful and charming!!
Here in Belgium we are more used to wooden beams.
Have a nice week Heather and thank you so much for your comment today!

I adore this look…it adds so much character to a room. Love it when painted on the ceilings and walls!!
Love them, I think the beadboard would be better with an 8′ height than the paneling, if has a lighter feel to it…now give us some progress pic please!!!
I put the boards in my kitchen, and I love it!!!! People notice it, and comment on it all the time. I think it’s a small thing you can do to make a room look special and expensive. The boards on my ceiling are about 4 inches wide. Here’s a pic. http://stacynanceinteriors.wordpress.com/2010/12/14/the-white-kitchen/
Good luck on your move, Heather!! Yes, I need to declutter and simplify several areas of my home. A move does help you get on that fast!
Gorgeous pictures! The last one especially, the natural light combined with the ceiling is amazing.
I love a bead board or plank ceiling. Sounds especially perfect for a lake house! We have used the planks really successfully – as a kitchen backsplash and in a stairwell. Looking forward to reading all about it!
