I am really excited about the casement windows we ordered for the front of the house. Here is a before of the area off of the kitchen that was dark and closed in…
We moved the fireplace to the front of the house which is behind the saw table and board.
Today the trim carpenters should be working and there was mention of countertops. Painting should start-up next week. We are close to deciding on different doors for the back of the house. The doors in the image below were installed and we were underwhelmed. We feel like there needs to be more glass therefore more view. So, we are considering a 13’6 wood sliding door in the living room and a 6′ wood sliding door in the kitchen nook.

Opinions Please…
I need your opinion. Yesterday I posted some of our selections for the lake house kitchen. I was planning on giving the tile contractor the tile selections today but, now I am second guessing the kitchen backsplash selection. Do I stick with the light greenish blue glass tile or should I go with a safe white ceramic or Carrara marble subway tile and add pops of color in other ways that aren’t so permanent?

Here are a few of our kitchen selections…
Glass Subway Tile
I think the glass tile installed in the kitchen as a backsplash will tie in nicely with the chandelier I showed you awhile back that we selected for the kitchen nook.
Arteriors Versailles Chandelier
I shopped and shopped for an affordable farmhouse kitchen sink with an apron that was a decent size and the winner was this Ikea 36″ wide sink.

The kitchen and bathroom cabinets which are shaker style, are going in this week and the windows went in over the weekend. I am starting to feel like we are getting close to having something to show you that isn’t boring construction.

The patio doors were installed at the lake house this week and they are U-G-L-Y. So, we are scrambling to find something better, fast. Wish us luck and have a great weekend!
Pool House Beauty
A lot of you have probably already seen this pool house in the August issue of AD but, if you have not had the pleasure I thought I’d share it with you. John Cottrell was the designer on this project. How amazing would it be to have a pool house like this? Or even a house like this?

Fireplace Inspiration
These images have inspired me to have horizontal planking (painted white) installed around the fireplace at the lake house.

We are also going to have some planking on the bar off of the kitchen to tie it together.
Doors were delivered today but not installed because the door openings were incorrect. It seems like there are always setbacks during the construction process. Hopefully it won’t set us back too long. We are hoping to be in the house no later than mid September.

Drywall went up in the house this week. Windows should be installed on Monday. Lighting has been ordered. Wood floors have been selected and I almost have all of the tile picked out. I can’t wait to share pictures soon!
