Chandelier Selection
Lighting is one of my favorite features of a home. I need to decide on a chandelier for the kitchen nook that is within budget. I love all of these but, I am not sure which direction I want to go…
I even like this coral fixture from Ballard Designs…
I like them all so much it is difficult to choose one. If I were a good girl I would choose the least expensive and call it done but, we will be living with whatever light we choose on a daily basis so I want to make sure we really like it. Which chandelier is your favorite?

Door Hardware
We have always selected the rubbed bronze finish on past projects for our door and cabinet hardware but, I am ready to consider chrome for the lake house. We are painting all the interior doors black so the rubbed bronze would blend in while the chrome would stand out. I am pretty set on the glass or crystal doorknobs for the interior doors of the home.
I have seen black doors with the chrome hinges and it is a great look .
Or we could go dark and blend…

Loving this House
I saw this gorgeous home over at Urban Grace Interior’s blog the other day. The owner of this home has a blog called Love this Life. Gorgeous! I am so inspired…
Did you see the quatrefoil window and the open shelving in the kitchen? I just love the simplicity and soothing qualities of this home.
I’m Connected!
We finally got internet! I have not been on my computer in over a week and I think I was starting to have withdrawals. We have been in the rental for a few days now and it has been a bit of an adjustment. The home is clean and small under a canopy of trees with a lot of spiders! We have to check the beds and our clothing to make sure there are no critters on a regular basis. I am becoming desensitized at this point which I think is a good thing.
We made our first golf cart purchase…
Everyone around here uses their golf carts to go to the lodge or a friend’s house for dinner. We went for a night-time cruise on the golf course and bridges than run over the lake where we saw other golf cart headlights with families doing the same thing. It is fun seeing the houses on the lake and golf course with their lights on inside.
I hope to be updating you soon on the renovation. In the meantime I wanted to share this bathroom with you…
Have a great weekend!
Moving Day
Check it off the List
One more thing can be checked off the list of things to do before we are able to move into the lake house. We just got back from closing and officially selling the home we have lived in for the past five years. We have enjoyed our home and have so many great memories of our time spent with family and friends here. Saying goodbye is bittersweet. We have wonderful neighbors that we will truly miss but, we are looking forward to moving to the country and making lake living a way of life. Here are some photos of the home we are passing on to a wonderful family who we hope, will enjoy this home as much as we have these last five years.
Next stop…the hotel and then next week we move into the rental near the lake house which we will start renovating in a couple of weeks. I will be sharing the process with you and continuing to ask for your valuable opinions. I love my blogging friends and couldn’t take on this project without all of your wonderful advice and inspirational blogs!
Beadboard or Paneled Ceilings
I am a huge fan of wood beams, paneling and beadboard on ceilings. You can see a post I did about wood beams and wood ceilings here. Because the lake house has eight foot ceilings wood beams are not the best choice but, beadboard could work. Here are some inspirational images that show what a beadboard or paneled ceiling can do for a room…
Do you like this look?
Have a great week!
