Texas Home

May 11, 2012

McAlpine Tankersley posted some images of a new home in Texas this morning on Facebook. I am loving it!

You can see more of this home here.

Have a great weekend!

Family Room Before

April 27, 2012

As I said in the last post, there are so many things we want to do to our new (25 year-old) home. Today the image I am sharing with you is the family room and library (MLS photos). This area is where we hang out together as a family and get cozy on the couch while watching a movie or Golden Girls. We have to have our daily GG fix in this house. Anyhoo, as you can see, some things need to happen in this space. First of all we are going to replace the white carpet with wood flooring. Second, we are going to look into painting the grasscloth wallpaper. We love the texture but not the pink tones. I would also like to replace the fan in the library with a chandelier (there is a pretty painted wood beam in the ceiling you can’t see in this photo) and replace the fan in the living room. Then I will need to style the library shelves which could take an entire year. ;-)

I look forward to sharing the process with you even though it may take awhile. Have a great weekend!

The “To Do” List Begins…

April 23, 2012

We are in our new home and are happy to be here. We have a lot of unpacking to do and a large list of items that need to be done in order to bring the house into 2012. As you can see in the photos below (listing photos), the house was built in the late eighties and needs help. The first items on our list are paint, replace white carpet with wood flooring and new door hardware. I am anxious to get to lighting but, I think I need more time to decide which direction I want to go.

This is going to be fun. ;-)

On to the Next Project

April 18, 2012

Big news here at Satisfying Spaces. We sold the lake house! Can you believe it? I know it seems like we just got here but, we are moving back to the city. We were struggling with the remoteness of living out in the country and saw a property in an established neighborhood right in a town we love so we  had to take action. It is a perfect set up for our family. The amazing elementary school is right down the street and so is Starbucks! I guess I was not ready for full-time country living yet. Although we love the lake and the beautiful surroundings, I think we need the conveniences of city life during this phase of our lives. The house was built in the late eighties so it will need a slight facelift. Nothing major. It has great bones. High ceilings, lots of crown molding and trim. Initially I think we will replace some of the flooring and renovate the pool. Then we will update light fixtures, hardware, the kitchen and bathrooms will need some updating as well. These are things we might take our time doing. The plan is to stay in our new home for a long time. We will enjoy the projects and of course I will be sharing our progress with you. :-)

Goodbye lakehouse…it was fun!

Beautiful Patio

April 3, 2012

I saw this photo of this patio on Pinterest this morning and absolutely loved it. We are starting to dine al fresco more often as a result of the lovely weather we have had. I could imagine enjoying homemade pizzas and having a glass of wine on this patio or maybe a cup of coffee with some french toast on a Saturday morning.

I hope you are having a great week!

It is that time of year…
